We were thrilled to welcome 71 girls from across the country to our first ever Wells Cathedral School Netball Performance Camp. During the three-day residential camp, the girls, whose ages ranged from 12-18, were exposed to a high performance environment curated by eight fantastic coaches from Team Bath, the British Army and even the coach of the Scotland U21s. Across three intensive days the athletes conducted a myriad of activities, punctuated with lots of matchplay to consolidate their skills, including performance analysis, fundamentals of attack and defence, strength and conditioning sessions, injury prevention and recovery advice, mental resilience and psychology. A series of seminars were delivered by experts from England Netball, Bath Rugby and coaching staff on the player pathway, social media, personal branding and nutrition. The camp finished with a Q&A on what coaches look for in trials for each position. The athletes who attended the Netball Performance Camp were given a huge range of insights into what it takes to perform consistently at a high level, as well as lots of advice and guidance on what it takes to reach the highest level in any sport. It was a very exciting week for Wells Netball and a great opportunity for our pupils on our doorstep – we can’t wait for next year!
