Rugby is a game of teamwork, strength, confidence and technique and who better to pass on the essential skills and knowledge to the next generation of star players than the Bath Rugby coaches?

On Sunday 19th November Premiership Rugby Club Bath Rugby joined 38 boys aged between 10 and 16 at Wells Cathedral School for an exciting rugby roadshow specifically designed to help develop the boys’ game in a safe and fun environment.

There were three coaches, with Bath Rugby’s own Grassroots Club Manager & Coach Educator, Tom Page, as the lead coach.

The training day took place on our astro courts where the boys were split into two groups and then coached through various elements of the game, concentrating on their drills, games and set pieces.

Despite the blustery conditions, both the boys and coaches thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they all came away tired but with huge grins on their faces.

This new partnership with Bath Rugby demonstrates Wells Cathedral School’s commitment to offering exciting new and innovative opportunities to the young people of Wells and the wider community – watch this space for news of more courses and events that we have developed specifically with young people in mind.

‘Sunday’s Roadshow at Wells Cathedral School was another huge success for both club and school. It saw our Bath Rugby coaches engage with young talented rugby players with a passion for learning and development. The day saw 38 kids work across a three-hour skills carousel covering Attack, Defence and Team Games. It was a great day developing the already strong relationship with Wells Cathedral School and we look forward to our continued work there this season’ – Tom Page
